More and more businesses and consumers are integrating sustainability into their purchasing decisions, but to address our global problems, this trend needs to accelerate.  How can we push this trend forward?  

Join our expert panelists to learn about the state of the art in sustainability communications and marketing. You'll come away with a deepened understanding of how these tools drive change and how you can use them in your work.

Jacquie Ottman will also be signing copies of her award winning new book, "The New Rules of Green Marketing: Strategies, Tools, and Inspiration for Sustainable Branding."

 - Jacquelyn Ottman, green marketing expert, author of four books, and adviser to the Fortune 500 and the US government
 - James Cortese, corporate communications strategist and Account Supervisor, Edelman
 - Nancy Roberts, social media & marketing consultant and Co-Founder, The Idea Hive
 - Moderator: Nils-Michael Langenborg, Faculty, UC Berkeley Extension and Dominican University GreenMBA Program

Panelist bios:

Jacquelyn Ottman: After spending over a decade in major NY advertising agencies learning the marketing ropes from the likes of Procter & Gamble and Ralston Purina, in 1989 Jacquie founded J. Ottman Consulting, Inc. and pioneered green marketing. She and her colleagues have helped more than 60 Fortune 500 businesses and various U.S. government labeling programs, including U.S. EPA's Energy Star and the USDA's new USDA Certified Biobased label, develop strategies for reaching green consumers while minimizing the risk of backlash.

James Cortese: James is a corporate communications strategist with more than a decade of agency and in-house experience at Edelman. James helped launch Edelman's clean tech group, and he specializes in emerging industries, including technology, clean energy, and life sciences. James holds an MBA in sustainability from Presidio Graduate School.

Nancy Roberts:
Nancy has 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, communications, and project management for mission-driven organizations. She is a partner and co-founder of The Idea Hive, a group of GreenMBAs offering research, consulting, and facilitation services that combine triple-bottom-line values with cutting edge thinking tools. A freelance writer, editor, and researcher, Nancy also writes for Care2.com, the largest online community for healthy and green living.

Nils-Michael Langenborg (moderator): Nils-Michael has over 25 years of marketing and brand-building experience.  He serves as President and CEO of Whole Health Marketing, a marketing consultancy for triple-bottom line brands, and has worked with Chevron, Dole, Spectrum Organic Products, Straus Family Creamery, Whole Foods Market, and many others.  Nils-Michael holds a greenMBA from Dominican University of California and serves on the faculty of UC Berkeley Extension and Dominican University's GreenMBA Program.
